Road To Rio (Dir. Norman Z. McLeod 1947): To avoid being charged with arson after burning down a circus Hot Lips Barton (Bob Hope) and Scat Sweeney (Bing Crosby) stow away on an ocean bound ship. Aboard the vessel the duo fall for Lucia Maria de Andrade (Dorothy Lamour) who is under the spell of her evil aunt (Gale Sondergaard) who has arranged a marriage for the young beauty. This film was in good hands since many of Hope's best collaborators worked on the picture. Director Norman Z. McLeod went on to direct Hope in four more features -- Alias Jesse James Casanova's Big Night My Favorite Spy and The Paleface. McLeod had a remarkable career behind the cameras working with such Hollywood greats as Danny Kaye (The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty) W.C. Fields (It's A Gift) and Cary Grant (Topper). Writer Edmund Beloin supplied the stories for both My Favorite Spy and The Lemon Drop Kid. His collaborator Jack Rose penned My Favorite Brunette The Great Lover Sorrowful Jones and The Seven Little Foys. This film also features musical guests The Wiere Brothers and The Andrew Sisters. The Flying Deuces (Dir. Edward Sutherland 1939): Stan and Ollie join the Foreign Legion so Ollie can forget an unhappy romance. Once in though the pay is so bad that they are soon trying to desert but are caught and condemned to death. They manage to escape and hide in a plane until the coast is clear whereupon they attempt to fly off with hilarious results. At War With Army (Dir. Hal Walker 1951): Jerry Lewis plays hapless Pvt. First Class Alvin Corwin and Dean Martin is First Sgt. Vic Puccinelli in this barrack room comedy set in the U.S. around World War 2. Alvin and Vic grew up in the same neighbourhood and Vic watched out for his pal then and still is! All the military stereotypes you would expect are here - a loudmouth drill sergeant a conniving supply Sergeant and a bumbling company commander. 'At War With The Army' was Lewis and Martin's first teaming together. The Ghost Breakers (Dir. George Marshall 1940): Mary Carter inherits her family's ancestral home located on a small island off Cuba and despite warnings and death threats decides to take possession of the reputedly haunted castle. She is joined by radio broadcaster Larry Lawrence who believing he has killed a mob gunsel flees New York with his butler Alex. Once on the island the threesome enter the eerie castle and after viewing the ghost of one of Mary's ancestors and fighting off a menacing zombie they find the key to the castle's treasure but are interrupted by an all-too-human foe. Three Stooges Extravaganza: A colourful collection of short comic skits and madcap adventures from Uncle Mousie Gurner's colour scrapbook of Stooges memories. Africa Screams (Dir. Charles Barton 1949): Abbott and Costello go on an African safari armed with a secret map which will lead them to hidden diamonds...
